Ceramics 2 Final

1-The project that I see being as most successful was the dinner place setting. We had to pick an artist and copy one of their art pieces and paint it on the place setting. To properly do this project, I had to blend a lot of colors and make it look like an actual sunset. Blending, Is the technique that I used most in this project and it was probably the hardest technique I have had to do. It is hard to make the colors look exactly like they do the artists picture. But I think the blending actually turned out pretty good looking.

2-This is the one project that I had the most obstacles with. I say this for two reasons, one because it was the last project I had to finish before I could start my teapot final. Two because it was something I have never tried before and it did not turn out to hot. This was supposed to be a lantern that was at least 8 inches tall, this "lantern" is about eh.. 5 inches. I couldn't get the clay to move the way I wanted it too, for example I wanted it too be more dramatic. This piece of artwork honestly looks like a third grader did it. But like I said, I never have attempted to do this till that day. This helped me grow and improve as an artist because to taught me that I should take risks and try to do new things. Even if it didn't turn out the way I wanted it too!

This is one piece of artwork over the semester that helped me grow as an artist. Overall I just think this piece reflects me as a person, not in the sense of being and owl, but the sense of the colors and the all the fun that is in the piece. This project was also my favorite, just because it was simple to throw and so much fun to design. This piece helped me grow because it helped me realize the contrast in colors and figuring out what colors would look good together and what wouldn't.
-This next piece of artwork that helped me grow and improve was the first project I ever did in the class of ceramics two. I say this because it broke within the first couple days that I made it. That defiantly taught me that I needed to be careful in what I was doing. This piece also taught me to add texture to pieces. That is what the little broken off pieces are!

4- To me this way of teaching was effective. It taught students that they needed to be dependable on themselves and not so much the teacher. It kind of made me realize "oh crap, I have to get this project done by today so it can be fired by Friday." I guess it was a way of getting you ready for college or later on in life. Your professors and your boss aren't going to tell you and ask you repeatedly if you are working on your new topic. They are just going to automatically assume that you are doing it. This new way of teaching helped me strive as a student, it made me a better student to be honest. Ms. G might not agree with me, but I still love her. (:
